Mass Education

  • The problem of illiteracy in rural areas is one of the most important problems that hinder development, as it is associated with many social and developmental problems, especially among women. Illiteracy has deeply affected their learning and cognitive and emotional development. The Grameen Yemen Foundation has contributed to the opening of literacy and adult education classes for rural women to develop their reading and writing skills, providing these classes with educational curricula and all necessary teaching materials to achieve sustainable development, eliminate ignorance, and improve living standards. Learning to write and sign their names is a basic requirement for beneficiaries to receive funding from the Foundation. The Foundation's staff teaches them how to write and sign their names on all financial transactions with the Foundation.
